Does Astrology Really Work? Examining Its Relevance and Reliability in Modern Times

Understanding Shani Sade Sati

There comes a time in everyone’s life where everything goes south unexpectedly. All the problems, troubles, and misfortunes catch up to you and hit you all at once. If you feel like your life has been especially challenging all of a sudden, there is a chance that you may be experiencing sade sati.

Sade sati is a period of 7.5 years in which Saturn passes over your janma rasi (natal moon), which is said to be a representation of your mind. Saturn thus clouds your judgment by shadowing your ‘mind’ and preventing you from making logical and rational decisions.

Though Shani is considered a malefic planet, the influence of sade sati is not always unlucky. Often the challenges that arise in this period will teach you important life lessons, help you instill discipline in your life, and strengthen your resolve. You may also be blessed with success and prosperity by overcoming the difficult challenges you faced.

Phases of Shani Sade Sati

Shani sade sati happens in three phases.

First Phase

In the first phase of Shani Sade Sati, Saturn travels from the natal moon in the twelfth house to the first one. This phase lasts for 2.5 years. During this period, your relationship with your father may be strained, and your relationship with the elder family members may be affected too.

Second Phase

In the second phase of Sade Sati, Saturn transits from the twelfth house to the first one. This phase also lasts 2.5 years, and it is considered the ‘peak’ phase. During this period, you may face financial loss, health issues, and excessive unplanned expenditures.

Third Phase

In the third phase of Sade Sati, Saturn moves from the first house to the second house. During this phase of 2.5 years, you begin experiencing relief from the troubles of the previous two phases. You may face some minor issues, but nothing too serious.

Triyuginarayan Temple, Rudraprayag, Uttarakhand

Triyuginarayan Temple, dedicated to Lord Vishnu, is a historic and sacred site located in Triyuginarayan village of Rudraprayag district, Uttarakhand. This ancient pilgrimage spot lies on the route from Guttur to Shri Kedarnath, and its architectural style is said to have influenced the design of the Kedarnath Temple. The village holds great religious importance, as scriptures describe Triyuginarayan as the ancient capital of Himavat, and it is here that the holy marriage of Lord Shiva and Devi Parvati took place.

It is believed that their wedding was performed at a large havan kund (sacred fire pit) where fire was lit in all four directions. Lord Brahma, Lord Vishnu, and many other deities and sages were present at this divine ceremony. Even today, devotees take the sacred ash from this havan kund to their homes, considering it a blessing for a happy married life. The temple is called “Triyuginarayan” because it is said to hold signs from three yugas (ages), symbolizing the eternal bond of Lord Vishnu, Lord Shiva, and Maa Parvati.

The temple complex also has four important kunds: Rudra Kund, Vishnu Kund, Brahma Kund, and Saraswati Kund. The waters of these kunds are considered highly sacred, and it is believed that the gods bathed in them during the wedding of Shiva and Parvati. Among them, Saraswati Kund is especially revered, as its water is believed to have originated from the navel of Lord Vishnu, giving it even greater spiritual significance.

FAQ's

Q.What type of planet is Saturn?

Saturn is the planet of discipline, karma, growth, and perseverance. It represents responsibility, structure, and hard work. This planet’s influence can introduce many troubles to our lives, but these are meant to teach us life lessons that will ultimately bring us success.

You cannot stop or avoid Sad Sati. However, you can take certain steps to make its effects more bearable.

Most people go through Shani Sade Sati three times in their life, depending on how long they live. It occurs approximately every 25 years and lasts for 7.5 years at a time.

Sade sati lasts for approximately 7.5 years because that’s how long Saturn takes to travel from the sign before your moon sign to the sign after it. It takes approximately 2.5 years to travel through each sign.

During this period, you should avoid making rash decisions, being disrespectful to others, getting into unwarranted conflicts and fights, and pay special attention to your health, finances, and relationships.
